Matosinhos to Via Chā, 16 kms, 8/8/18

Strolling along the ocean on a gorgeous sunny day, listening to the waves as the wind caresses your hair….yes, that is why we are walking the Coastal Route. That and the perfectly grilled sea bass we had for lunch today!

Our second day was mostly on boardwalks along the ocean, with beautiful vistas, old buildings, and informational signs.

Besides being wished Bom Caminho by the locals as we walked along, they had put these signs all along the boardwalks as well!

A lovely chapel near the Boa Nova Lighthouse…

…and behind it was the perfect place to snack on cherries and cheese!

We’re getting better at selfies! 😱 next time maybe I’ll remember to smile

One of many boardwalks leading down to a beach. With over 600 miles of beach, many were deserted or had one or two families!

The next photo explains the details of these Roman tanks used for salting fish. There were many of these signs along the way, teaching us about the area.

Fresh sea bass grilled to perfection! It was served with potatoes and vegetables.

And then it was back to strolling along the ocean, a little slower after that big lunch!

Yet another example of a sign along the way.

And we collected two more stamps from cafes along the way!

  1. Such interesting pix. You must have a selfie stick! Never knew about salting fish. That’s really amazing. Stay hydrated and have fun!
