Along the Rio Minho

Yesterday we said “Até breve” to the coast and traveled along the river Minho to the city of Valença do Minho. Wanting to reach Valença that night, but reluctant to walk 28+ kilometers in one day, we took a train to Vila Nova de Cerveira then walked the rest of the way – 16.5 kilometers – along an eco-pista with lots of picnic areas and beautiful views. We were thankful it was a cloudy day as there were many areas with no shade. And no cafes along this route, so we suffered from café com leite withdrawals all day!

Our feet were grateful for a parallel dirt path when we got tired of walking on cement

Some areas had shade, but most didn’t

With lots of picnic spots along the way…but “Oh, for a café com leite”!
