Vila Praia de Âncora to A Guarda, 20.6 kms, 8/21/18

We crossed over into Spain on a ferry today! Our app said it was 20.6 kms from Vila Praia de Âncora to A Guarda. We started out along the Senda Litoral (coastal path) and then went through a tunnel under the railroad tracks to switch to the inland Coastal route about halfway to Caminha so we could hotfoot it to catch the 11am ferry. After the ferry ride, we resumed our walk along the river Minho, then around the point till we were back on the Atlantic coast, all the way to the pretty little town of A Guarda.

The signs continue to guide us along the Way of St. James on the Portuguese Coastal route.

That is Spain across the river Minho. Our destination for the day, the town of A Guarda, is on the other side of the mountain.

Walking under the railroad tracks!

The pretty town of Caminha all decked out for an upcoming music festival.

No passport control at the border crossing since it is all within the EU! A 15 minute ferry ride and we were in Spain!

These stone buildings are very common to the Galicia region, and were used traditionally to store grain.

We had more shade as we walked along the river Minho.

A stone cross on the shore.

The pretty town of A Guarda, Spain.

And still collecting stamps, even one from the ferry!
