Following the water

Even though we left the Portuguese coast, we continue to find water along our route in Spain. From Vigo to Redondo on Thursday (12.2 kms) and then to Arcade on Friday (8 kms), we could see the views of the Vigo river as we walked on trails in the hills above the river. Then, yesterday, part of the walk into Pontevedra (14 kms) was on a trail that followed a babbling brook through woodlands.

We have also seen a lot of Corpus Christi celebrations. The street “art” is beautiful, done specially for the festival days. In Pontevedra, we also happened up a procession as we were heading to lunch.

The Vigo river as viewed from the trail

View from our room in Arcade. See the guy ringing the church bells by hand?

We heard this babbling brook all the way through this beautiful section

Wish you could hear the waterfall but I don’t know how to insert videos in this blog

And tunnels to walk alongside the stream

They were all dressed up in distinctive Galician costumes showing the Celtic influence

And carried statues

Included lots of nuns and priests

This was made with fresh flowers and greenery – wish you could smell it!
