Our main reason for visiting India in October/November 2019 was to visit my 93 year old mother in Mumbai. We managed to arrive on the fourth day of Diwali (the Indian New Year), and were able to spend the next two days of the celebration with my mother. As we all get older, every moment we spend together gets even more precious!

My mother has accomplished so much in the past 3 years! She published her first book, received a national award for the Best Tourist Guide, did a TedX talk, and had a Documentary Film made about her that has been shown in Film Festivals all over the world. It was great to talk about all of that, and to hear stories about her ancestors.

When visiting her publisher Mr. Arun Mehta, who also happens to be related to her, we heard the story about how my mother’s grandfather became a close friend and benefactor of Mahatma Gandhi!

While we were in Mumbai, we also visited the General Post Office where they use your photo to make stamps – actual stamps you can use as postage in India!
Wonderful post! Wondered where you guys were. Thanks for keeping us up to date. Travel safely!

Bina and Ken, I just imagine what a very special time you had with your Mom. What a treasure to have a book that reveals her life as a young girl/women and to hear her talk about these times. That must have been a special time for all of you together. Thanks so much for sharing this and Ingo and I will buy the book. If you send me a post card on your future travels, I want a stamp of you and Ken. What a blessing to have this visit with your Mom and she is still going strong!
